It Doesn’t Matter

There are so many issues that cause us to get our tail in a knot in any given day. Have you ever wondered how many of them are really worth the stress we put ourselves through?

If a friend’s grandson has suffered a psychotic break, is hearing voices and refusing help and medication, why are we bothered by the price of eggs?  It doesn’t matter.   If a family member is threatening suicide, why do we care if gas is 50 cents more a gallon?  It doesn’t matter.  If a spouse is enduring dialysis multiple times a week, why do we care if the house is pristine?  It doesn’t matter.   If a loved one is in emergency surgery or a daughter is in labour with her first child, why are we worried about ANYTHING else?
We may not face any one of these situations today.  Maybe we have in the past. Maybe we will in the future.  But, let us allow these and other issues to put life into perspective.  We waste too much of our precious time getting all wound up over some thing that, in the long range scheme of things, is all not that significant.  In other words:  it doesn’t matter.

Lord, help us to stop wasting our time and energy on things that truly don’t matter. Help us to have Your perspective.  Amen.

“Be anxious for nothing…”. (Philippians 4:6)

Especially when worry adds years to our condition! May we trust God in all that matters and rest in Him.
