Goliath strutted his stuff day after day. Using his size to intimidate the men of Israel, he cajoled and verbally poked and prodded them. He was “in their face”, unceasingly. What a way to wear down your prey!
Only a small, unknown shepherd had the courage to face the giant head-on. Seemingly, he had no protection, no help. He looked so ill-equipped, like he was setting himself up for annihilation. Still, he stepped forward and volunteered to face the giant. He refused to be intimidated. And, ultimately, the victory was his. But, not his alone. David had the Lord on his side and that makes any one of us a majority. Better than any well-equipped army. Better than any so-called shield. David won because God had prepared him. God was with him. And, David was willing to trust Him.
What giant are you facing? A health issue for you or a loved one? A problem at work or looking for a new job? A move across the country to an unfamiliar area? A family disagreement? Though you may not know it, God has prepared you. Think back to some of the things He has seen you through in the past. He is with you. Face the giant head on. He will see you through again.
“The Lord will deliver me…” (1 Samuel 17:37)
“Do not fear or be dismayed because of the great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15)
Never alone, when the Lord is on our side! Thank you for encouraging words that are true.
Thx for the encouragement Teri
Such a good reminder! Thank you Teri. ❤
Excellent reminder! We do face giants and the Lord will cut them down to size for us!
All the heroes and heroines listed in Hebrews 11 had to face giants. I’m so glad that God gave us memory so that we can recall what God has done in our past. Thank you for the encouragement, Teri!
Amen 🙂
God prepares us, God is with us, all we need to do is trust him.
