Not So Anonymous

Ok, I’ll admit it.  I worry.  In fact, sometimes it keeps me up at night.  Not only do I hate that (even though we aren’t supposed to hate), I also hate admitting that I hate that!  What a dilemma!  I worry, and then I feel guilty that I worry!

Sometimes I think maybe I should start a chapter of Worriers Anonymous.  “My name is Teri.  I am a worrier.”  My kids get on me for worrying and claim that if I didn’t have anything to worry about, I’d worry about something to worry about!     🙁   (I prefer to call it”concern”).

As a Christian, this really troubles (worries!) me since we aren’t supposed to worry.  “…for this reason, I say to you.  Do not be anxious for your life…”   (Matthew 6:25).   “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…”  (Philippians 4:6).  “Which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his lifespan?”  (Matthew 6:27).  Then, of course, I worry about THAT!  Stop the merry-go-round:  I wanna get off!  If there were such a thing as Worriers Anonymous (as if we could keep our “syndrome” a secret), how many of you would join me?

I hear Jesus saying, “O, ye of little faith,” and I want to respond, “I believe, Lord, help my unbelief.”

Yes, please.  Give me grace to trust You more.

“Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you.”   (1 Peter 5:7)

Give me grace to trust Him more! I say i don’t worry – but, when I find myself frustrated or verging toward disappointment or anger …. what’s happening? I’m worried about what I can’t fix!!!! So … is my faith failing or am I not paying attention!! Glad we have scriptures to support the needlessness of worry! Thanks again, Teri.

“Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s trouble, it takes away today’s peace.” If only I could remember that.
