No Thank You

If you are a grammar geek (as I am), you have probably already determined that this title is missing a comma.  But, in this case, that would be a misinterpretation.  This refers to a missing “thank you” that might be expressed when a gift is given.  Isn’t that irritating?  It’s like asking someone out on a date and being totally ignored, as if you’re invisible.  The basic snub.

The Lord says to “give and it shall be given to you” (Luke 6:38), but where is the “common” courtesy?  Not so common anymore!

Emily Post used to profess the writing of notes to acknowledge a gift.  Today we’re lucky to get a text (which is right at everyone’s fingertips, yet somehow isn’t always followed through).

Is this how we are with God?  Are we remiss in thanking Him for the gifts He doles out each day?  There’s not even a need to write a physical note since He’s always with us.  But, if there is no thankfulness in our day, then we, too, have snubbed the Giver.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good…”  (Psalm 136:1)

“Give thanks in all circumstances…”  (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Giving genuine and hearty thanks should be our habit. If it’s not we are not practicing the Word; nor are we loving our neighbor (gift giver) as ourselves. We like to be thanked…let’s dish it out! Good word Teri.
