Come Unto Me

A dear friend recently gave me a journal of hers which she began before I was born!  It contains Scriptures and quotes and special thoughts and is a reflection of the person she is.  Though she lives close enough that I can still see her often, when I am not in her presence, but read her words, I suddenly feel close to her.   It is as if she is with me.

It dawned on me that this is why we have God’s Word.  It reveals who He is, and contains instruction and encouragement; when we read it, we can feel that closeness with Him.  And, He even gives us His Spirit within us.

You’ve probably seen the quote:  “When God seems far away, who moved?”  He certainly doesn’t take a nap or go on vacation.  He’s always with us.  Reading His Word can provide us with that sense of closeness – like reading my friend’s journal blesses me with a sense of her presence.

Why would we choose to miss such an opportunity?

“You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy.”     (Psalm 16:11)

Yes, the life-giving words of Scripture are precious!! A light in the darkness.
Your pic of Jesus’ words are just what I’m pondering this morning! He said His heart is gentle and lowly – example for us all in finding rest for our souls.
    Thank you Teri!!!

In these days of tumult and insecurity we do indeed need the rock that is Gods Word. Thank you for this reminder.
