A Colossal Waste Of Precious Time

As of the date of this writing, I lost my one sister (and only sibling) two years ago today.  It’s hard to believe.  It made me the last one standing from my nuclear family.  I’ve discovered what my grama knew for a long time:  it’s lonely at the top.

Thus, I’ve been thinking about the brevity of life.  Here today, gone tomorrow.  So, why do we spend so much/some/any time worrying?  What does it change or accomplish?

Worry actually =

W -Waste

O – Of

R – Really

R- Restricted

Y- Years

If we worry and it happens, it didn’t change the outcome.  Conversely, if we worry and it doesn’t happen, we got all worked up for nothing.

My sister lived 82+ years.  I’m not sure there is any way to calculate how much time she may have spent worrying, but of what use was it?  What did it accomplish?  She took her last breath, entered her eternal home and life here with its complications and issues ended.

We all have loved ones who have passed away.  May we learn the lesson from their lives – however long or short those lives may have been – worry is a waste of the precious moments we’re given.

“For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life…and which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life span?”  (Matthew 6:25, 27)

Excellent review! Someone dear to me is completely debilitated by worry and self-incrimination. He worries about the past and the future! It is adding NOTHING to his life and is throwing him into a mental paralysis! Thanks for the word, Teri

Excellent advice. When thoughts pop in my head now I just pray and move on.

I agree. Turn your worries into prayers and put them into the Lords hands

Worry changes nothing, prayer reminds us who is in charge and memories are a blessing.

Thanks for that sage advice. Sometimes easier said than done. Help me Lord! We are so often stuck in this world with its hurts and pain. It’s hard to see into what’s to come with its lack of pain and sorrow. Thankful for the family of God here and soon to be there together!

An older questioning friend called me Pollyanna. But I believe Ro 8:28.

Thank you for sharing your insights. Always helpful to remember worry does not serve us at all.
