We have so many expressions, don’t we? Just kidding; a piece of cake; under the weather; spill the beans; break a leg; the ball’s in your court and on and on the list goes. They slide across our lips with such ease, we hardly think about what we’re saying.
One of the expressions heard often is even used by Christians in conversation. Ask someone about his/her health and, after what one friend referred to as an “organ recital” (detailing all of their medical problems), they often respond with, “But, it beats the alternative!”
EXCUSE ME??? Really?
A dear friend (whom I had known for over 45 years) died today. I sincerely doubt if she would say that. I rejoice that she is with the Lord and also with loved ones, including the child she lost so many years ago.
Am I discounting or devaluing the gift of life? Not at all. But, what’s ahead is even better.
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And, if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.” (John 14:2-3)
That’s my hope! Soon and very soon!
Well said. Cant wait!
