We recently did some remodeling at our house. It was exhausting and probably is not something we will ever repeat, though we had the work done for us and our part was simply to pack up “stuff” and move it out of the way. One day I went on an excursion in hopes of finding a new end table and some bedding. I logged a lot of miles going in and out of various places and ultimately, came home with three used books and the feeling that the outing was a waste of time and energy.
It turns out, I found nothing I had searched for; yet, I found exactly what I needed. In the small stack of books was a devotional with the subtitle, “Christ’s Journey to the Resurrection”. Opening it and reading the very first page, it spoke to me in amazing ways and I was struck by the lessons that came to me. Has something similar ever happened to you?
God and I each had a goal for the outing. I didn’t find anything for my house. Instead, I found something greater – something for my heart. What a gift! Thank you, Lord!
” ‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts; neither are your ways, My ways’, declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:8)
Wonderful … I want to see the books! I found a little book on the end of the grocery aisle when I was 19, “Hotline to Heaven.” That little book taught me about a “personal relationship” with Christ and led me to make the relationship my own. It changed my life early and I am forever grateful. Not finding what we’re looking for, but finding what we need …. surely led by God … is a wonderful gift!
Very nice! Thank you 🙂
Isn’t God wonderful to lead us where He wants. Of course, I applaud good book finds!!
